Doing Things With Nokia Cellphones

Nokia phones range from economy models to the high end, sophisticated smart phones but at the base they operate a similar menu system based on the Symbian OS. Whenever you buy a Nokia phone you get a manual. However, neither the manual nor the website gives you information on how you can use some secret codes and functions. Not all such tricks with all models of Nokia phones and you can simply try it out on your own model and see if it works.

1. Go to Settings, choose security settings and then user groups. Change the closed caller group to 500 and watch as it sounds the security alarm at shop exits. You may find it amusing others may not. Set it to 00000 and watch the phone sound the message tone when you are in the vicinity of radar speed traps. Quite useful, huh?

2. Spy using your Nokia cell phone. It is quite simple and comes in quite handy when you have kids at home you want to monitor while you are away at work or shopping. Go to the phone's menu, choose the profile and activate the "automatic answer" mode but set the ringing volume to "mute". Leave your headphone or earphone connected to the mobile. Use another phone to call this number and the phone will automatically go into the answer mode, letting you eavesdrop on conversations in the room, without anyone present knowing about it.

3 Your precious Nokia phone is stolen or lost. You may not be able to get it back but you can disable it. First you have to store your phone's unique serial number. This should have been done by you earlier. It is done by typing *#06#, resulting in the phone displaying a 15 digit code on the screen that you should have written down somewhere safe. If you have the code fine, contact your service provider and report the theft. Give them this code and they can block the phone, making it useless for him or for anyone else who tries to use it. However, not all service providers will prove helpful in blocking the phone.

4 If you are in a location where the call quality is low, you can activate enhanced full rate by entering the code *3370#. Now you can hear the conversation more clearly but the drawback is that it consumes higher power. This facility can be deactivated by entering the code #3370#.

5. Starting the phone in safe mode can be done simply by first switching off the phone and then holding the "pencil" key down while switching on the phone simultaneously until you get the prompt to enter the PIN code. A phone with a defective memory card boots up fine, letting you remove the defective card or app or reformat the phone or backup your data.
